Hospital Photos

This photo shoot was the day before they were discharged and they were 13 days old.

I wanted this particular pose just because Nora was breech most of the pregnancy.

Their striped afghans (above) were made by Great Grandma Bennie.  :)  And the afghans in the next two pictures were made by Great Grandma Ginny.  :)

New Chapter, New Look

I don't think anyone would disagree that Jamie and I have entered a new chapter in our lives - The Kid Years.

Hence, we're unveiling a new look for the blog.  Obviously, it's new colors, a new font, a new header (with a little throwback to the old), and most notably, a new name that is clearly more reflective of our expanded family.  It was either add MAS and NBS to the header, or start from scratch.  All those initials wouldn't have fit very well, so we chose the latter.

Please continue to read while basking in the luxury of the new look!

Coincidence?

Surely you've read my post below where I mention that M and N's mobile matches that of Harry Potter's when he was a baby.  Well I have some more pop culture uncanny coincidences to share.

One of my favorite shows is Parenthood on NBC.  It's about 4 adult siblings and their families - as I am one of four, I identify well to this large and dynamic (adult) family life.  What really gets me, especially after the last 3 weeks, is how your immediate family somehow becomes your children's extended family....  How does this happen??  Well, anyway, back to the uncanny coincidences.

Adam and Christina (hate this family, by the way), just had a baby girl last week and named her Nora.  Aww, precious!  And it gets downright eerie (or not) when I noticed that Nora has the exact same Boppy pillow that my girls have from Target.  See below.  Have goosebumps yet??  ;)

What 2 1/2 Week Olds Do at Home

Sometimes they get tiny little scratches on their faces until Grandma comes over and clips their nails.

Sometimes we get supervised tummy time to avoid flat heads.

Sometimes we sleep in a circle with our doggie, Chip.

Sometimes we talk to Daddy.

Sometimes we snuggle together.

Here is one of Margaret's pretty new flower clips!

We have a good time with Melis and meeting our new friend Violet!

We visit with Grandpa Herb and Grandma Bennie.

And we chat with Grammy about the Cardinals.

And we had to put on our Cardinals gear for the first game of the world series!

Final Nursery Post

I know, I know.  I'm a blogging fool lately.  But in a couple days, I won't have time, and then it could be months until my next post, so enjoy it while it lasts!  ;)

Here are the final nursery shots.  We're all ready for these baby girls to come home!!!

Movin' On Up

M and N have had two very exciting days!  Yesterday, they both had their feeding tubes removed.  They are consistantly eating out of a bottle for every feeding... and they are hungry girls!  Also yesterday, they had their standard procedure preemie brain scans.  Everything looked terrific.  Then their heads were covered with that goo, so they had real baths in a really small little tub!

Today the girls upgraded their living quarters from isolettes or incubators to open cribs!  This is fabulous... they are maintaining good body temperatures.  :)  This is one of the final milestones... it looks like these girls will be coming home sooner than anticipated which is great news for mommy and daddy.  We can't wait to finally be all together at home.

Who doesn't love babies?

One Week Old

I'm a little behind, clearly. The girls are 10 days old today, but this post is about the day they turned one week old, okay?

Miss Margaret, trying to grab a hold of that feeding tube. Every day, the girls take turns pulling out their feeding tubes. I can't say that I blame them.

Nora Girl. Can you believe how red this hair looks???

In each of their isolettes are their stuffed manatees from Andy. The manatees came with some books. The box it all came in had a picture of a manatee, who was holding a box with a manatee on it. Try coming home to that after having a C Section and fighting back tears on your front porch as you're laughing so hard and your incision is killing you because of it. And you can't help but laugh because it's just about the cutest/funniest thing ever. Thanks Andy! http://www.bluemanateebooks.com/
