Welcome to Freeburg

We have spent two nights in Freeburg. We are officially Illinoisans. Lucas and I are pretty exhausted from all the packing and unpacking and putting stuff away and sorting through boxes we haven't seen in a year. I wanted to share some pictures of our progress.

This is a view of the family room. We have ordered a couch, but until it arrives, we have just one comfy place to sit and that's the chair from the girls' nursery.

Here is our bathroom. It's bigger than our bathroom in kirkwood!! I am so excited about the new mirror we bought (not up yet) and the new towels!! (Our old towels are going on 7 years and look it)

Here is our wonderful kitchen! You wouldn't know it from the pic, but that dishwasher is running right now! We have a kitchen with a dishwasher!!!! We still need to hang the microwave and install the sink (on order) but I really love this kitchen!

And here is the living room. This room is so big and I have no idea what kind of furniture we need for it :/ See that area rug? It looks tiny!! And it took up our whole living room in kirkwood!

So we have been busy. And we have had  wonderful help through the move! Thanks to soooo many people!!  PLEASE come visit us soon!

Almost 21 Months

The girls are almost 21 months old. That means almost 2. That means time to plan a birthday party. Time to kiss the baby years goodbye. Oh boy. Are we ready for this?

Margaret and Nora are pretty much masters at all animal sounds that we know. Sure, there are some obscure animals out there, but for the most part, if Lucas and I can imitate the sound, so can the girls. They say I love you, and it sounds more like "I yuv ya" but it's presh. They also say thank you... They are very sweet and polite young ladies.

We have more or less decided that we want to live in Illinois. Of course, it's hard to tell where we will actually end up, as nothing is set in stone. But we are looking in Illinois, specifically, Freeburg. We have a lead on a fabulous house... a lovely light blue Cape Cod ... and with a pretty extensive facelift could be "the one". I am already designing the renovation blog in which we will catalog all the work being done to the home. :D if we don't get this house, it's back to square one, as there are no other suitable options right now.

More info on that as plans unfold...

In the meantime, here are some almost 21-monthers!

TGIMay

We are ready for this warmer weather and sunshine and pools and late sunsets. We. Are. Ready.

Today my mom put the girls is little tank tops sized 9 months. They looked like little crop tops! Their little tummies were hanging out! It was actually very cute-- think we need some summer play clothes?? It made me a little sad because I LOVED the little outfits that those tops went to.. And really seems like only a couple weeks ago that they were wearing those outfits ALL THE TIME. Only, it was last summer! Time is flying by!

We have two toddlers on our hands, there is no doubt. They have their moments, but for the most part, they are as sweet as can be! They freely give hugs and kisses. They share toys. They comfort each other.

Here are some fun photos from the past couple weeks. :)

Spring Snow

Margie and Nora experienced their first time playing in the snow. We had 14" on March 23rd! The girls really just stood in the snow, right where I plopped them down. It was too high for them to walk through. I also threw some snow balls at them, but they really didn't appreciate that. All in all, we were out there for about 5 minutes.

March 2013

Hi everyone! I have a little down time while I'm watching my brother's kids for a little bit this evening, so I would to write about some recent happenings.

My friend, Crystal, left town today. She and her husband, Randall, came through town on a road trip from Dallas to Nauvoo, IL to St. Louis to Fort Leonard Wood to Dallas. Phew! Crystal and Randall are expecting their first baby in June! It's a BOY and his name is Gavin! Little Gav is very lucky to have such great parents and I am so excited for the three of them! Later this summer, once he's arrived, a road trip to Dallas will be in order so we can meet him!!

The girls are very active in this almost 18-month-old phase. Here is a rundown of a typical day:

6:15ish wake up
6:30ish breakfast. Either scrambled eggs, oatmeal or waffles. Plus any additional combination of banana, Greek yogurt, cheese, or toast
9:00ish nap time. These girls turn on a dime, so it's really easy to tell when it's nap time :)
11:15ish lunch.
1:30 or 2:00 nap time
4:30 Mommy gets home from work!
4:45 or 5:00 dinner. Then play time! We read books, play in the tent, play with play food, take a bath or watch the doodlebops
6:15 Daddy gets home from work! Even though the girls are winding down for bed, sometimes we have a pillow fight and get them a little wound up, but I consider it more "wearing them out"! We hit them with bed pillows, and I know what you're thinking, but they love it. They laugh hysterically and truly have a blast.
7:00 (if they can make it that late) bedtime. The girls go out wonderfully with a paci, their little pillow, Lamby, and a blanket. And Judy playing on the CD player. And I think it's finally safe to say that MOST NIGHTS we don't see them again until the morning.

Margaret is our little rule-follower. I think she's going to be a tattler... Because if something happens to her, like if she gets knocked down or something, she immediately seeks out the nearest adult and gives a look at you like "did you just see what happened?". She does not enjoy the outdoors.. She won't walk in grass. She likes to tidy things up. If she sees a little trash in the floor, or some lint, she'll bring it to me. At the science center a couple weeks ago, there were these two buckets of Legos that were screwed to the wall, side-by-side, and each of the girls were at a bucket. Nora would take a Lego out of her bucket, and throw it on the floor. Then Margaret would bend down and pick up each of Nora's Legos and put them into her bucket. I guess they make a good team ??? Either that or drive each other nuts!

Nordoo is our little adventurer. She's not afraid to get in a precarious situation. She loves being outside, in the grass, in the dirt, digging and getting dirty. She is going through a bit of a whiny phase right now... She stopped walking around yelling, "me!" But she's now whining in a different way. I think she's in a growth spurt. Buts she's already noticeably taller than Margaret! She's had a big-girl haircut, and I've trimmed her bangs twice! And that girl wakes up every morning perfectly coifed! Her hair really is gorgeous! Everything about her is darling! :)

And Margaret is sooo sweet right now because if you bend down and say "give me a hug"... She will come running towards you, and, of course, give you a hug! And she gives open mouth kisses and Eskimo kisses. And if you wink at either Margaret or Nora, they will bat their eyes at you!

Lucas and I are both enjoying new jobs! His is challenging everyday but in a way that he likes. And mine is something different every day, at the company I've been with for 5 years and really love! Like my official professional photo below??

Okay, that's a little snapshot of our lives these days. That, and Lucas and I wracking our brains for where we want to live. That's a hard question... Because we are really open to any location, but very picky at the same time. A realtor's dream, right????

Nordo and her Bookdo

Nora loves books. The girls have no less than one million toys, and she always goes straight for the books. Her favorites are "Happy Baby 123" and "Flip, Flap, Fly". The following pics are stills from a video I took of her reading "The Grouchy Ladybug". In the last pic, she finally realized I was filming her and she threw the book down a dove for my phone.
